Welcome to my new home!

My dearest, most wonderful, Oshun Spirit customer friends ~

I am thankful each day when I see the work you are doing to positively transform our world and create cleaner, greener, kinder, and more sustainable communities. I honor your commitment to using natural wellness and personal care products and services, and your dedication to learning how to heal yourself and our world with intention, compassion, and your heartfelt blessings.

You have inspired me to use my life wisely, to boldly live my truth, and to create, innovate, and serve. And, together we have created and sustained The Earthkeepers project which supports efforts to transform children’s daily lives through connections with nature and the indigenous,

multi-cultural teachings of the Web of Life.

We know that our shared work is already helping to counteract some of the greatest challenges facing children today. These include educational systems and households facing extraordinary pressures: poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, attention difficulties, obesity, declining creativity, anxiety and depression, and a deep disconnection from the wonders of the natural world.

Research shows that regular time in nature...
• Facilitates better social and physical development
• Improves fitness, motor-skills and well-being
• Supports creativity and imaginative play
• Inspires collaboration and reduces violence and bullying
• Reduces stress
• Creates feelings of empathy for nature — the first step toward developing the next generation of environmental stewards.

The Earthkeepers program has created resources for young people, based on research of modern and ancient wisdom, that are designed to support this vital work. Once a program way ahead of its time, Earthkeepers now is regarded as an important and necessary intervention component in the community where it has been tested. And so, as our grant funding comes to an end,

I have been blessed with the opportunity to become a district employee

with the ability to maintain and grow the program.

So yes, that forest up there is my new home!

It is a magical place born in the imagination of children with open minds and open hearts.

Children who know that they are perfectly special, amazingly capable, and resiliently hopeful. Children who believe they are going to change the world, in fact, they have already impacted their community in many positive ways. Your support mattered. It still matters...

So, what I'm finally able to say is this: It's time for me to return to my roots at Oshun Spirit; specifically by offering intuitive arts services and the very best, carefully crafted, potent products. I'll offer seasonal goodies, and continue to create high frequency gemstone and botanical fusions whenever inspiration insists in manifestation; meanwhile I'd like to clear out the inventory on hand and take the spring to redesign the website and improve your shopping experience.

I invite you to PLEASE let me know which products you simply cannot live without, and I'll make sure that I keep them in stock. Just drop me a note through the website, at my personal email suberry@metrocast.net or message me on facebook www.facebook.com/oshunspirit1

I look forward to hearing from you!

Meanwhile... everyone loves a great sale!

Let Your Light Shine!

Let Your Light Shine!

Dear Friends,

New Year's  Blessings and Good Wishes!  The turning of the year ushers in a host of fresh opportunities and reminds us that we always have a chance to make our lives better and evolve into kinder, healthier, and happier human beings. May we give each other the comfort we need to strengthen our hope and faith in order to steady our balance as we embark on this wonderful trip round the Sun once again - in the year 2017. May we reach out to those in need and give generously from our hearts.

I wish you much joy in the up coming year. May the warmest wishes, happy thoughts and friendly greetings come to you at the New Year and stay with you all the year through. I will continue to offer wellness products and services through my online presence, and will devote much of my time to The Earthkeepers Project, an innovative pilot program for homeless and educationally disadvantaged children which incorporates the healing powers of nature with Indigenous People's spirituality to nurture self awareness, oneness consciousness, and earth stewardship. Miracles abound!

Let's work together to transform ourselves, and our world! I invite you to share New Year blessings with your near and dear ones, or treat yourself to a little something special. Enter code 2017 at checkout and take $20.17 off your order of $60 with free US shipping at www.oshunspirit.com. Thank You!

Whether you’ve just walked through the greatest year of your life, or you’re incredibly glad to see this one finally over, this truth still rings clear amidst it all. You are not alone.

My prayer is that this year we to come to be known as the great givers, generous and kind; that we truly learn to look to the needs of others and not be consumed by only our own. May we be lovers of truth, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. May we make a difference in this world. May we reflect our peace and hope to a world that so desperately needs our presence and healing.

I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. Let your light shine!

In love and peace,

Together, We've Accomplished Some Pretty Amazing Goals!

All I can say is, "Thank you."

Because of you, we have been blessed with the opportunity to do the work that truly feeds kid's souls and elevates their potential as conscious co-creator inhabitants of Earth. Open hearts and inquisitive minds grounded in the web of life and stewardship of our precious natural resources - this is your gift to the world. Thank you!

The Earthkeepers are children in grades 1 - 6 who are part of an after school program for kids in-need. These unlikely heroes have created a butterfly garden, an outdoor classroom in the forest, and a buddy bench on the playground to spread kindness and an appreciation of nature at their school. They have created a school-wide culture of inclusion and friendship. Their message is resonating across all boundaries. All, because of you!

A few weeks ago I mentioned to an Oshun Spirit customer-friend that this winter, it would be nice for Earthkeepers to have dry pairs of mittens to put on for their “outside time” after school. I imagined a forging a connection with resident knitters in a nearby assisted living facility. "Warm Hearts, Warm Hands." I only needed the funds to buy yarn and materials. An Oshun Spirit Earth Angel donated these funds before I could even finish my next sentence. Today, joyful knitters are helping these children, and the children are loving giving the knitters the opportunity to share their talents, connect, feel valued, and give the gift of love. Personal notes and "gratitutide rocks" have been exchanged and the knitting has begun. And so have amazing friendships between the young ones and the elders, as it should be!

This is just one story. You have supported me in so many ways. When you "like and share" a post on facebook of the kids installing outdoor community art stations, or planting a pollinator garden you help me bring awareness of the importance of nature education for kids today. When you donate crystals for land art, and ribbons for weaving, provide computers or cash, or simply appreciate the resilient spirit in these kids and hold hope for our world - you change the world - for the better. All I can say is, "thank you!"

When Oshun Spirit does well, I am freed to commit more time and energy to The Eathkeepers Program. So, I am asking you do do some Holiday Shopping today.

Your support means the world to me, and to the children in the Earthkeepers programs. It is important to state that this is truly a crowd funded project. There is no state or district funding for this project. The after school program has been blessed by the support of The Friends of The Libby Museum and an Angel Investor  launched the day program which serves over 165 kids. But the future of these programs exist on a wing and a prayer. If you can shop, please do. If you can't - send some good vibes our way and share our story.

I need your help!

I am reaching out to all of my wonderful customer friends. As many of you know, I have been working with homeless, educationally disadvantaged and at-risk kids for many years, employing the teachings of gratitude, service, connection to the web of life and its/our healing of which you all are very familiar.

We know that children need to practice caring for others and expressing gratitude for those who care for them and contribute to others’ lives. Studies show that people who are in the habit of expressing gratitude are more likely to be helpful, generous, compassionate, and forgiving—and they’re also more likely to be happy and healthy.

I have been given a unique opportunity - that is to open "The Earthkeepers Enrichment Center" within the walls of an elementary school in New Hampshire. I am so close to making this happen. Your support means so much to me. This can be a model for the future of mainstream enrichment for kids around the globe.

We don’t make children happy when we simply enable them to be receivers of kindness. We escalate their feelings of happiness, improve their well-being, reduce bullying, enrich their friendships, and build peace by teaching them to be givers of kindness. We can bring about a more peaceful, kind and healthy world for us all by making this enrichment program as mainstream as art, music and physical education in our schools.

If you’ve helped spread the word about my project to potential supporters, thank you! If you haven’t, please consider forwarding my campaign link to others and sharing my campaign with your friends on Facebook. If you can make a financial contribution, I thank you with all my heart and soul.

Learning to be caring is like learning to play a sport or an instrument. Daily repetition makes caring - for the Earth and for each other - second nature. Learning gratitude similarly involves regularly practicing it. There's no better place than right at school! Let's do this!

Thank you so much!
In love and peace,
Susan

This project is near and dear to my heart, and your support would mean the world to me

My dear friends and colleagues,

As many of you know, I run workshops and programs both online and locally, for children and adults. Earth Keepers is an after school enrichment program which I have been able to offer to educationally disadvantaged kids in grades 1 - 6 thru a partnership with the Libby Museum of Natural History.

As a culminating activity, the Earth Keepers would like to create a Butterfly Garden at New Durham Elementary School, in New Durham NH. I am personally overseeing this project, and I am asking you for your support. We only need to raise funds for materials. 100% of your donation will go to landscape timbers, rocks, stepping stones, topsoil, fertilizer, compost, seeds, and plants.

If we can, we will include landscape elements such as a rock grouping, solar powered fountain, and  benches in a reading nook to enhance the garden landscape. We will create a small Butterfly Garden library in the school media center and enjoy a school-wide dedication celebration.

School Gardens improve social skills and behavior, and instill appreciation and respect for nature that lasts into adulthood

Please take a moment to learn more about this wonderful program. We have 30 days to raise our funding if we will complete our project by the end of the school year. Every donation, large or small is so very much appreciated.

My prayer is that these students can experience the joy of creating, and the joy of giving, the greatest gift of all.

In love and peace,
with many, many, thanks
Susan

Remembering the Ancient Ways

In recent days I have been preparing a program that I taught to teens about a decade ago for a younger audience. I came across this list and found my program outline within it. The Native American culture is highly spiritual and places a great emphasis on the respect for Mother Earth, Father Sky, Grandfather Sun and Grandmother Moon as well as all living and non-living objects. Perhaps in reading this you will find guidelines for your next endeavor as well... may you be blessed!

1. Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone. Pray often. The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.
2. Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.
3. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
4. Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat them with respect and honor.
5. Do not take what is not yours whether from a person, a community, the wilderness or from a culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.
6. Respect all things that are placed upon this earth – whether it be people or plant.
7. Honor other people’s thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.
8. Never speak of others in a bad way. The negative energy that you put out into the universe will multiply when it returns to you.
9. All persons make mistakes. And all mistakes can be forgiven.
10. Bad thoughts cause illness of the mind, body and spirit. Practice optimism.
11. Nature is not for us, it is a part of us. They are part of your worldly family.
12. Children are the seeds of our future. Plant love in their hearts and water them with wisdom and life’s lessons. When they are grown, give them space to grow.
13. Avoid hurting the hearts of others. The poison of your pain will return to you.
14. Be truthful at all times. Honesty is the test of ones will within this universe.
15. Keep yourself balanced. Your Mental self, Spiritual self, Emotional self, and Physical self, all need to be strong, pure and healthy. Work out the body to strengthen the mind. Grow rich in spirit to cure emotional ails.
16. Make conscious decisions as to who you will be and how you will react. Be responsible for your own actions.
17. Respect the privacy and personal space of others. Do not touch the personal property of others, especially sacred and religious objects. This is forbidden.
18. Be true to yourself first. You cannot nurture and help others if you cannot nurture and help yourself first.
19. Respect others religious beliefs. Do not force your belief on others.
20. Share your good fortune with others. Participate in charity.

Ringing in the New Year with an Aha Moment

Once upon a time, this painting changed my life. I call it an "aha moment."

Back in 1999, I was teaching a program that I created called "Ancient Ways" in collaboration with the New Hampshire Teen Institute, NH Court Diversion/Juvenile Justice, and our local Mental Health providers. It was good stuff, teaching the ancient ways to young people - watching them sprout and blossom, grow mighty wings, and fly with great confidence. Heal. Thrive. Live. Give!

As Ancient Ways became noticed and noteworthy I became a program director and then the executive director of several non profits. Within a few years time I wrote similar programming for other agencies, traveled, gave lectures, presentations, workshops, wrote grants, crunched numbers, and I got further and further away from what I really wanted to do - teach the program.

This image -  of a teacher and her students connected to the body and spirit of nature and watched over by the ancestors, both human and non - is my good friend. Over the years it has hung on the walls of my classrooms, in meditation rooms, and at a holistic health center. But it was in the Reiki healing room of a local youth center when it really spoke to me.

As a good friend often does, it reminded me to take a moment to breathe when I began to wonder just what the hell I was doing... and why. It was while I was gazing at this artwork on that one day, exhausted and unfulfilled, that I stopped the madness.

14 years pass quickly.

I found my old friend several weeks ago, after its long absence from my daily awareness, carefully wrapped and tucked away in a box marked 2001 program materials. I was rooting around in the box because I have gone back to teaching a few local programs, and I needed some notes.

As I picked it up, I had another "aha moment." Truth chills and a long exhale.

Hello Old Friend!

It's time to get back to the work I was intended to do. Trust the Universe. Invite the students. Teach the Ancient Ways. I hung the painting on the wall of my office, set my intention, and placed my phone on the table below it. It rang.

Happy New Year - it's going to be a great one!
May we all be blessed,
Susan

When you stuff your stocking with Winni Soaps you'll feed a hungry child in Wolfeboro, Tuftonboro, or Ossipee, NH for an entire weekend. End 68 Hours of Hunger is a private, not-for-profit, effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some local school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday morning.

End 68 Hours of Hunger provides weekend food to school children Pre-K to 6th grade. As of June, 2014, 63 children in the Governor Wentworth School District have been identified as having little or no food on the weekends, and the number grows weekly. End 68 Hours provides these children with food. Volunteers purchase food and deliver it to the organization’s storage space located at Huggins Hospital. The food is stocked and inventoried, placed in bags, and delivered to Carpenter School, Crescent Lake School, Ossipee Central School and Tuftonboro Central School. The school guidance counselors distribute the bags to the children on Friday afternoons each week.

Each bag of food costs $10 each week per child and provides two breakfasts, two lunches and three dinners for a child, with some left over to share!
