Got Coupons? I do! Addoway.com offers sellers flexible options for promotions

Everyone loves a great deal, I know I do. I love sales, special insider discounts and secret codes for free shipping, a percentage off, or a free gift.
I especially love coupons!

I tuck "preferred customer coupons" into outgoing packages from Journey Beads and Oshun Spirit, and "welcome coupons" to entice new Listia auction winners to visit my website, and of course ebay customers get both Journey Beads and Oshun Spirit "come visit my other venues coupons" in their packages in hopes they will convert. Ebay remains my most productive marketplace venue outside of my website, even though my products cost more there because it costs me to sell there. A quality product, timely delivery, and a coupon plus the lower price usually does the job.

But until yesterday, my new storefront on Addoway was left out out the fun. No longer! Now my customers will be able to apply their coupon codes across all venues. So my customer friends, whatever coupon you're holding today is now good at my storefront on Addoway.com  (www.oshunspirit.com) in addition to the venue listed on the card! Yipppeee!

Seller friends: Addoway introduced a smart, simple coupon generator which allows buyers to redeem coupons towards purchases made from the storefronts. Check it out: I can create individual coupons with specific end dates and choose either a dollar amount or percentage discount, and create the coupon for items priced over $x or under $x... and even better... by specific item #! This is great if you want to run a special on certain items, create gift certificates, or offer "deal of the day" type promos. It's well thought out and really easy to implement.

Watch this: I'll create a special offer for my blog readers only:

Code: SPECIAL OFFER
 SAVE $5
On ad# 141176 thru 10/31/10
This one is only good on Addoway, and you'll have to click on the link to find out what the offer is...

Have fun! I know I am!

Shop for a cause today on Bonanzle.com

The tourist dogs are returning to the lake! Just like my 3 two-legged boys noticed an increase in pretty girls around town as schools let out for the summer, my 3 four-legged boys have been standing at the end of the dock, noses in the wind. The snowbirds are back. The summer dogs will be arriving shortly, and ready for romance!

Just like my two-leggeds found the city girls irresistible, Duke (chocolate) and Harley (Yellow)...
well, boys will be boys!

So, I decided that it was time for the young ones to be neutered.  Today is the day.

I dropped them off at the vet at 8 o'clock this morning. I'll be able to pick them up later this afternoon, and my greatest challenge will be to keep them out of the lake for a few days. My four year old black Lab Skooter (photo center) went straight from the car and jumped off the end of the dock after a duck upon his return home from having the procedure. These guys will be on leashes, live and learn!

In every community there are animals sitting in animal shelters waiting for homes. Only about half of those dogs (and cats) will ever get one. The other half will be euthanized.  Pet overpopulation is a serious issue and by allowing your dog to breed, you are adding to the problem. Although you may not own the female dog, and you are not burdened with finding homes for those new puppies, someone else will be.

I've had dogs since I was 16 (all males with the exception of Chelsea) and In my experience I've found that neutering makes for a calmer pet that is less likeley to wander, a cleaner home, and more gentle, affectionate and obedient dog. There are many health benefits as well.

My neutered/spayed dogs have been loving companions to me, my children, and some have been in service working with Hospice and with at-risk kids. Through their labors of love, they've enriched and even extended lives.  I believe that spay/neuter makes it easier for us to responsibly care for our pets, and increases the enjoyable activities that we and our dogs can do together.

Making the decision to neuter or spay a pet means that fewer pets… pets as sweet, loving, healthy, and deserving of companionship as my own… will be euthanized for lack of a home. Harley and Duke are purebreds, but that is not an excuse not to neuter, many purebreads are given up as they were. Plenty of future dogs can come from the carefully selected dogs who live with people with time and talent to devote to responsible breeding. That is a high calling, and we're all indebted to those people who do it well.

So, today is a celebration of the dogs, like Harley and Duke (and Joey who you'll meet in the video), who will be spayed and neutered as good citizens, who will be our best friends and loyal companions, but who will not breed.  Today is an opportunity for us to all blog, support, and speak positively about stopping pet overpopulation proactively!

And it's a really good day to shop for a cause!

Spring Rites: Collecting Pussy Willows!

When I was small, I kept a few exceptionally large Pussy Willows in a little found nest on my dresser. I think I imagined them to be micebirds or something equally magical. I cut a small piece of felt and made a blanket for them, and kept a little water in a bottle cap should they get thirsty. I petted them, talked to them, loved them.

To this day, collecting Pussy Willows is one of my most favorite rites of spring. Each year I celebrate "Pussy Willow Day," a sunny Saturday or Sunday in late February or March when there's still snow on the ground, and warmer weather brings a waft of the sweet smell of mud on the breeze and I know... they're ready!

I gather my children, friends, neighbors, and dogs (anyone who will come) for a walk in the woods, and pack up some wine, fresh cheese, and a great round of bread. Formal attire includes rubber boots for this celebration usually takes place on a sunny rock in a swamp!

Pussy Willows are "the official harbinger of spring" in my heart, opening well before the crocuses and snowdrops and signaling the waking up of my New Hampshire woods. I dance from tree to tree, marveling at the furry displays until I finally decide which few branches I will prune off and bring home and place in my Grandmothers enormous crystal vase to be honored as a blessing and the promise of Spring.

Pussy Willow trees are native to wetlands of Canada and the Eastern U.S. If you find Pussy Willow trees as delightful as I do, eventually you may want to try to plant them in your own landscape, rather than having to trudge through the snow, mud, and swamps to find them. Since pussy willow trees are wetland plants in the wild, they are happy in areas that have poor drainage. They do best in full sun.

There are male Pussy Willow trees and female Pussy Willow trees. The buds, or catkins, on the male Pussy Willow trees look different from those on the females. The male catkins are showier, and it is the branches of the male trees that I seek for bouquets.

Propagating Pussy Willow trees is really easy. They root so readily that cut branches can simply be inserted into moist soil in summer. Take the cuttings from the new growth on male pussy willows, not the older, gray-colored branches. Take a cutting that is about as thick as a pencil and at least one foot long. It needs to be long enough for a few inches to be underground, while a couple of nodes should still be showing above ground. Roots will develop within a few weeks. (The end that you want to insert into the ground is the end that you cut.) You can also root cuttings in water and then transplant outside when danger of frost is past.

The Pussy Willow tree that I planted outside my kitchen window is bursting today, filled with plump catkins and chickadees, finches, and sparrows noisily waiting for their turn at the nearby feeders. It is one of the greatest gifts that I ever gave myself. And it's a gift that keeps on giving! Today I will bring a bouquet to the wonderful girls at the Post Office, who stamp my outgoing packages Fragile and let me use their tape sometimes. Pussy Willows say "thank you" in a very special way.

And this Saturday, I'm going to celebrate "Pussy Willow Day." My dear friend is coming for the weekend with her dog and her rubber boots. She's bringing the wine. I'm baking gourmet dog cookies today.

Celebrate Spring at my Bonanzle storefront by entering coupon code CATKIN at checkout Friday, March 20 and take 25% off your total purchase. Happy Spring!

This rare Centauress is almost 7 inches tall and about 8 inches long and as you can see she's charming!
