Crossing Bridges Between the Old and the New

Are you tired, depressed?  Do you feel that you can't take another step? Hold on.

In my practice I see depression affecting more and more people. I use the word "depression" to describe how we feel when we are stuck, stopped, sad, listless, unmotivated, restless, and in worse cases, feeling hopeless, powerless, and useless. When we’re depressed it’s hard to get motivated to do anything (never mind forge ahead and lift humanity over the perilous passages).  We might also be either very teary and emotional... or feel numb, heavy and lifeless.

These days depression is common among lightworkers and the sleeping ones alike. And I've been wondering why... especially among those wayshowers who have been buoyant and effervescent over the past decades... and who would not and could not shrink from their blueprint mission.

What on Earth is happening?

Well, I feel this is something more and more people will experience as we expand our energy fields because the more we become energetically aware and embrace Ascension, the greater our risk of being (temporarily) depressed...

So much for expanding our hearts and energy fields...

My God! Does this mean that if we expand our energy field we risk being depressed? Ummmm yes, and for several reasons. When we are aware of new levels of energy, which means we have depleted our existing energetic connections, we create two separate energy flows. One flow consists of our own energy and the second flow is the new, higher level of energy.

We get "depressed" because the higher energy levels compress our energy and make us very aware of its lower vibration. This process literally squeezes any limiting aspects out of us so we can know what they are (like being in a vise or like squeezing toothpaste out of a tube), which is why our life looks so dark and ‘bad’ when we’re depressed.

To bridge the old and the new we need to create a connection to the new flow by releasing the things that are lowering our vibration so we can integrate the new energy. The two levels cannot co-exist within us, we have to choose which one we will be at.

As these lower aspects are released we feel them as heavy emotional energy, reminders of our limitations, failures, doubts, confusion...  and the reality we have at this moment. We are fully aware of everything in our life that isn’t working, doesn’t bring us joy and isn’t very fulfilling. Now we feel stuck and at a standstill – and we are.

This is the point where we have to align with the new levels of energy and create the channels to integrate them into our reality so they become our new vibration! If we’re very aware of this process, we open ourselves to new potentials. If not, we get depressed, feel terrible and can travel down a spiral of self judgment and fear that can make us physically and mentally ill.

The reason for depression is that we are no longer energetically aligned and fully connected with our existing energy and vibration. The purpose of depression is to help us become aware of the new energies we can align with. The "psychology community" defines it as a mind-based issue but it is really energetic... and spiritual.

Your energy has been compressed and you are fully aware of what can be released to help you align with and integrate the new energies. Alignment and integration are achieved through intention, awareness, release and grounding. This allows us to connect with new energy and puts us at a higher level of energetic vibration.

While it’s happening it can be very uncomfortable...  and if we remember why it’s happening we can use any depression to release that which doesn’t serve our desire to Ascend and prepare ourselves for new and higher vibrating energies to become our new, expanded reality.

Resting in the riddle of not knowing...

Often times, new clients want to follow up immediately after a healing to discuss and analyze every energy surge, intuition, and insight they have experienced during their session. While I appreciate the excitement around the discovery of a new perception, I will most usually recommend that the discussion is delayed for 48 hours or so.

Discussion, since it is an intellectual activity, often has the effect of diluting the power of spiritual healing. Sometimes, by talking about things we define and limit what is actually non-linear and limitless! I believe that it is necessary to be in the mystery for a while... and to respect that which has unfolded in the realm of Spirit and give the process a chance to manifest miracles in the physical without our mental and emotional preconceptions altering the natural courses.

Sometimes, when a client asks, "what was that?" I say I do not know.
"What?"
"I do not know."

I don't want to know everything! The practice of BEing in the mystery actually enhances our understanding of the complexity of reality if we allow ourselves that sacred space of not knowing. It is tricky business to admit we do not know where we are, or what we are, and even who we are in any given moment. Our modern lives usually demand immediate answers to every question and our tendency is to create logical systems with an efficient procedure to every handle and process every problem and concern. Many people steer clear of anything that is in the realm of the mysterious because it lies outside the false safety net of reason and logic.

I say, "Rest in the riddle of not knowing. Learn to be comfortable with your discomfort."

I think that to be spiritually centered is to have a holy respect for the great mysteries of life — the yearning in our souls to experience love in its many forms, the strange beauty of the natural world, the complexity of our inner selves, the unfathomable creativity of Source. The wisdom traditions challenge us to live within the grace of unknowing. To have experiences and not feel the need to lable and compartmentalize them into meaning.

Today, I will cherish the baffling, curious, hidden, and inscrutable dimensions of my existence and the world around me. I will live with paradoxes. I will give up the idea that I will finally "get it." I will be suspicious of the "ologies" that try to explain everything — from astrology to psychology to theology.

And I will not be afraid to admit, "I don't know."

Do you do love spells?

Many people try to force things to happen in their lives, especially in matters of the heart. Every week I receive at least one inquiry to do a "love spell." Usually the person would like to attract their soul mate, or meet someone new, soon! Sometimes the request is to reunite with their lover who has recently ended their romantic relationship. But always the question is, in its essence, "Can you make him or her love me? Right now? Today?" There is the hope that I can somehow instantly summon this perfect love into their life with pure magic.

Do I do love spells? The answer is no. And here's why...

Asking for a love spell makes the assumption that power to love is outside of you. It says to the universe, "I just can't do this, I'll pay someone else to." But you can. Personal growth requires individual effort. No one can make changes or create your life for you. You have the ability to create your own "spell" using techniques of visualization, spiritual healing and meditation in concert with the natural, loving energies that surround all of us. You are able to use these energies and connect to the Universe to make your desires become realities. In supporting a forced relationship I would be interfering with the natural unfolding of your life and your mastery of it.

Even if I would bend probability to favor opportunity, for someone to partner in your life you have to do your part. A romantic relationship is an interchange between two people that offers each the opportunity to know the deepest part of oneself better. Relationships are alive! They are talking mirrors that give us ongoing feedback about how our Spirits are evolving. Relationships are sacred!

When you ask for a manipulation of the mirror, or force a relationship, you deny the inherent spiritual qualities of love. Loving relationships are the holy exchanges in which our souls create an opportunity for spiritual awareness and growth. When we recognize this, we understand that unions cannot be forced without creating a great deal of confusion, struggle and despair. Truly, the best way to attract love is to hold a clear idea in your mind of the qualities you're looking for in a partner (and in a vessel such as a journal, dream board or crystal grid) and to develop a good, loving relationship with yourself.

Sometimes it is beneficial to consult and invite the intelligence and wisdom of something beyond ourselves. But when someone pays for a love spell, that person is missing the opportunity to work on the most beautiful aspect of their own spirit with the Divine. Real magic happens when we align ourselves with Universal Love and move in harmony with that alignment. We may not always get the results we want immediately, but we will most certainly get the right results in accordance with our highest good.

So, if you are wanting to meet someone new, or experience a more loving relationship, first ask yourself these questions: How ready are you for a relationship? What changes do you need to make first? For something or someone to enter your life, you may find that you first have to make a shift. I personally think prayer and meditation are good substitutes for a love spell. And, a metaphysician can help you gain perspective and understanding of what that shift might entail. In a metaphysical counseling session, I might suggest that you look at the energies and beliefs that you have in various areas in your life that might need to be reinterpreted, reinforced, and then acted upon.

For example, you may have to let go of a hurt you experienced in a previous relationship. You may need to strengthen your self-confidence and build your sense of inner security. (You cannot attract a relationship if you think that you don't deserve one!) Sometimes, creating some time and space for a relationship may be necessary both mentally, emotionally and physically. To have and maintain a relationship, you must make room for it. Often the answer lies in the fact that you may need to develop a new concept of what a relationship is. Some of us hold onto an old idea, often a broken idea of what a relationship is, based on our parents example or ideas we have adopted from media and culture. Insight must always be followed with action to create!

In that creation, always, we eventually discover that the relationship we are really seeking is that with our higher self and the Divine. The most important relationship you will ever have is with Spirit.

We cannot make someone love us. But we can learn to love ourselves, and to love the part we play in the dance of life. Then, let the Universe unfold as it was meant to for your own deepest, most fulfilling experience of love. That is the real magic!

Quantum physics explains why and how distance energy healing works.

Physical distance is not a barrier to a healing interaction, in fact, energy healing can be accomplished at a distance just as easily as in person!

From my own viewpoint, it is not necessary for the energy to travel anywhere as I am able to "see" the universe as being like a holograph, where the whole is contained in every part. Time and distance are only concepts which help define our "ordinary" third dimensional reality. The laws of nature which describe subtle energies in the higher dimensions are different than those which describe the denser frequencies including the physical body. As physics explores the layers of the structure of creation, phenomena become less and less localized.

Quantum Physics states that everything in the universe is made of subatomic particles of energy, not solid matter as previous believed. In the early 1980’s, scientists proved that under certain circumstances subatomic particles of energy are able to communicate instantaneously with each other no matter how far apart. Whether separated by a few inches, or many thousands of miles, the results were the same. In subsequent studies, when the phenomenon was duplicated, scientists concluded the energy particles communicated at a rate thousands of times faster than the speed of light. But according to Einstein, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, otherwise the laws of time and space as we understand them are incorrect.

Quantum physicists have reached the conclusion that the reason subatomic particles can stay in contact with each other despite vast distances is not because they are transmitting a signal back and forth faster than the speed of light, but because the separateness of the particles is an illusion. On a much deeper level of reality the particles are not individual entities but are extensions of the same fundamental something, and everything in the universe is infinitely interconnected.

These "new" theories mirror what mystics have been saying for thousands of years. We are all part of a continuous whole. They suggest the reason distance healing works is because we are all one in some fundamental or spiritual way.

A skilled healer can sense the energy field of the person receiving the healing and provide healing equally effectively if the person is in the same room or across the world. Physicists describe a unified field. This field in which I work, is actually an altered state of awareness and perception in which the limitations of time and distance have been transcended. It is natural, accessible, and available to all beings for inspiration, creation, manifestation and wellbeing. It is oneness consciousness, and our true nature. Sharing the Emerging Vision of Humanity's Collective Soul

What is the emerging vision of our time? I believe it's a vision that offers us a totally new concept of God as an energy field - a cosmic sea of being - as well as the creative consciousness or organizing intelligence of that sea or field, and a totally new concept of ourselves as belonging to and participating in that consciousness. It is a vision that recognizes the sacredness and indissoluble unity of the great web of life and imposes on us the responsibility to become far more sensitive to the effects of our decisions and our actions. It is the ancient, sacred vision.

This vision invites our recognition of the needs of the planet and the life it sustains as primary, with ourselves as the conscious servants of those needs. Above all, it is a vision that asks that we relinquish our addiction to violence and the pursuit of power; that we become more aware of the dark shadow cast by this addiction which threatens us with ever more barbarism, bloodshed and suffering, leading ultimately to the possible extinction of our species. An essential modern, holy vision.

It is the vision of love.

We have developed a formidable intellect, a formidable science, a formidable technology but what of the soul, the dimension of our deepest instincts and feelings? What of our visions, dreams and hopes as well as our deepest wounds and the suffering caused by our lack of compassion towards each other? What of our need for relationship with a dimension of reality invisible to our senses? The pressing need for the soul's recognition has brought us to this time of choice. Our self-created mortal danger is forcing us to take a great leap in our evolution that we might never have made were we not driven by the extremity of circumstance. As prophesized, as promised.

We are now poised for an immense opportunity for evolutionary advance, if only we can understand what is happening and why. We can choose whether to imitate the patterns of the past, continuing to live our lives in servitude to the power principle, however subtly expressed, or we can choose relationship with life, respect for life, love of life, and the immense effort of consciousness we need to make to understand and serve its mystery. After so many billion years of evolution, it is simply unacceptable that the beauty and marvel of the earth should be ravaged by us through commercial greed, the destructive power of our weapons or the misapplication of our science and technology.

Sacred Art and Healing Symbols

Symbols are used for healing in many systems. Much is made of the Reiki symbols, and every student wants to learn them and harness their power. A much-used symbol is very powerful because using it is like tapping into a reservoir of all the power invested in it. It is the intention of a collective consciousness that the symbols tap into for healing. As a practitioner of vibrational healing, I know that using any art-form, be it a symbol, a piece of music, a sequence of movement, or my grandmother's chicken soup recipe, and adding the intention to heal, heals.

Reiki symbols are Sanskrit-derived Japanese forms. The Vedas say that Sanskrit is the language of the spirit world. During a Reiki attunement, an imprinting takes place that links the student to the symbol and the metaphysical energies the symbol represents. The Reiki attunement actually plugs the student into part of a collective consciousness of people bringing in energy to heal through those symbols. That is their their intended purpose. As a Reiki Master Teacher, I respect the Reiki symbols as sacred healing symbols which enhance the flow of healing energy. They act like keys that open doors to higher levels of awareness and manifestation. But they are not the doors, nor are they the source.

However, the symbols do carry their own consciousness, and it is born from loving intention nurtured and strengthened through the ages by Masters of many traditions, including Reiki.

So in the practice of Reiki, the symbols act as triggers, and they are useful because they help train the mind in such a way as to instantly trigger the flow in a reflexive, and multi-dimensional way. This way, instead of having to focus on ritual or shifting, the tracing of the symbol can get the energy flowing instantly while I turn my attention to something else, like my client's words or breath patterns.

Ancient peoples believed that all sacred art, created in ritual, trance, or meditation had great power and helped create change and healing because it was inspired by Spirit. (In SPIRIT ation!) There are many modern day Shamans, like myself, channeling symbols and geometries with the goal to help heal humanity, and the earth, with healing art.

Each healing artist plugs into part of a collective consciousness of people bringing in art to heal, becoming part of the oneness consciousness that is being born. Through these symbols and forms we all join, share our visions, pray as one, and find others who search for the dream of oneness as we do.

Through the sharing of this art and the consciousness that surrounds the earth, we become one consciousness. As I bring in images of high vibrational essences, and manifest them in the outer world in the form of T shirts or totebags, or manifestation grids, I am contributing to the healing force to restore the earth and its inhabitants to harmony. It is my prayer that this art finds others who are having the same dream, of peace and love, and hope, and that anyone who needs to be healed will also find these images. I know that making art with intention to heal, heals.

Neurophysiologists understand that art, prayer, and healing all come from the same source in the body, that they all are associated with similar brain wave patterns, mind body changes, and they all are deeply connected in feeling and meaning. Art, prayer, and healing all take us into our inner world, the world of imagery and emotion, of visions and feelings, of creativity and creation. The vibrational signature of art that is created to optimize and balance energies recalibrates those energies in the mind, body and spirit. Making art with the intention to restore, restores.

Let's love one another! I share with you this symbol of healing, a vibrational signature that carries unconditional love. Dolphins are keepers of light upon Earth, living fully immersed in oneness consciousness. The blue lotus bud awaits the dolphin transmissions of love to be fully anchored in the consciousness of mankind. When you're happy, you feel better, look better, and are better! Here are some simple and effective tips you can use to brighten your day!

• Get outside! Whenever you feel bored, antsy, or gloomy, go for a walk. The fresh air, changing scenery, and exercise will boost your mood. See the sun daily. The sun's rays may encourage your body to produce natural chemicals that induce joy. Go outdoors at night and look to the heavens. Whenever you have a chance to relax under the stars, do it. Gazing at the night sky makes you feel more connected to the world.

• Meditate while you walk. Stroll through a familiar part of town and focus your mind on its sights, smells, and sounds. If other thoughts pop up, acknowledge them but return your concentration to what's around you.

• Answer slowly. Take a deep breath before responding to a question from anyone, whether it's your boss, your mother, or your lover. Chances are you'll say something smarter (and kinder). Bow out gracefully. The next time you argue with someone, be the first person to relent and acknowledge the other person's point of view. You'll both be smiling sooner.

• Marry beauty and practicality. Next time you need an everyday object, like a cereal bowl or a coffee mug, choose the most pleasing replacement you can afford. When you use it, notice its simple elegance. Place a small but exquisite painting, handmade vase, natural object, or other piece of art prominently in your home. Admire it often.

• Add greenery. Adorn your desk and kitchen counter with cut flowers, houseplants, or potted herbs. Plants are proven mood enhancers. Revel in simplicity. Buy a single rose, tulip, or gerber daisy. Admire the color and shape of the petals and remember how beautiful life can be.

• Care for yourself. Eat fresh food, drink pure water. Create a home spa in which you can retreat, relax and renew. Treat yourself to scented candles, therapuetic bath salts and oils, aromatherapy, soft towels and uplifting music.

• Remember kindness. Recall a situation in which a friend treated you kindly. Mentally extend the feelings of joy she inspired back to her. Keep in touch. Write a friend. Use your best pen and beautiful stationery. Realize that you are actually sending love. Know you're loved. There's no greater joy!

Distance Energy Healing
