Calling all customer friends old and new... come share the love!

As you know, I put my heart and soul into the offerings at Oshun Spirit because I believe in encouraging personal wellness and following a path toward conscious living. I believe in the subtle and cumulative benefits of bathing in blessings, detoxifying your body, and nurturing your spirit. I believe in community, and connection. Our oneness.

I also believe in power of small changes wherever you are on your journey toward a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. And sometimes change, any change, can be scary. My prayer is that my website provides a safe haven that invites people to awaken and live consciously, in harmony with the environment, the planet and all the people who share our home. For more than three decades I have been dedicated to providing more than just products and services, but rather creating a healing oasis that offers positive solutions that connect, renew and inspire.

I am asking you to help me inspire others!

Please leave a product review (or two or three) at Oshun Spirit Earth Friendly Goods. Simply click on a product or service and you will see the link to leave a comment and rating. Many of you have already left product reviews in the past, and my consistent feedback from new customers is always so very appreciative for the insights and experiences that you have shared. In fact, according to GrabStats 86% of consumers read online product reviews before making decisions; 90% of whom say they trust these reviews. People trust you and your opinion, and that trust opens hearts and minds.

And we know that what starts from within one person can make a world of difference...

So thank you. Each product review will count as one entry into a random drawing on October 15 for the salts and healing clays pictured. You can enter as many as you'd like. You'll receive a generous assortment... some to covet, and enough to share. Namaste.

May we be blessed!

How to Prepare Powdered Clay for External Use

A clay mask draws excess oils and debris to the surface of your skin, boosts circulation to tighten the skin and stimulate blood flow, and whisks away dead skin cells that can clog pores…You can add herbs and essential oils to soothe inflamed, painful skin and fight bacteria that inflame clogged pores into blemishes…

To control itching – A simple "mud pack" made with bentonite clay and enough water to create a thick goo can help control the itch and dry up blisters, herbalists say. Spread the clay over the affected area and let air-dry. Keep it on until the clay wears off or gets itchy. Wash off the residue.

For First Aid – To make a healing pack, mix bentonite clay or baking soda and oatmeal with water and an anti-infection herb or an herbal tincture. Apply to pimples, boils, or wounds.

Bentonite, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays used to treat both internal and external maladies. Bentonite can be used externally as a clay poultice, mud pack or in the bath, and in skin care recipes. Internally, it can be added to water or glazed upon food to help those with sensitive palates. It has a very fine, velveteen feel and is odorless and non-staining.

Its highest power lies in the ability to absorb toxins, impurities, heavy metals and other internal contaminants. Bentonite clay's structure assists it in attracting and soaking up poisons on its exterior wall and then slowly draws them into the interior center of the clay where it is held in a sort of repository. To state it another way, Bentonite is swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are bound.

Preparing powdered bentonite for external use is not difficult, but may require some patience. On average, the amount of water required to properly hydrate bentonite will be from four to five times the amount of clay, by volume. For every one cup of bentonite, at least four cups of water will be required to fully hydrate the clay to produce a magma that can be considered colloidal.

While there is not one single method to prepare clay, our experience suggests the following method:

1. Add the powdered clay to the container, layering it not more than three inches thick. If one is making more clay, add about 4 times the water to the container at this point, then add another "layer" of powdered clay, again, not more than three inches deep. This process can be repeated.

2. If the layering method is not used, then once the powdered clay is in the container, the water is then added.

3. It takes time for the clay to hydrate. If one finds that the powdered clay is not adsorbing water, then one may gently create small holes from the top to the bottom of the container, which will allow the water to penetrate to the bottom of the container.

4. Mixing the clay is not recommended. If neccessary, one can "turn" the clay by taking the clay that is on the bottom of the container and moving it to the top.

5. Complete hydration can take from 48 hours to five days, depending on the clay and the amount of clay being made.

The end product should be a gel substance without clumping. The more one interferes in the process, the greater the chance of clumping. When placed in a container, one should be able to feel a "bounce" to the clay, by holding the container in one hand and tapping it with the other.

If the clay is not hydrated enough, it is easy to add small amounts of water. We recommend creating medium sized holes ( if a large container is used to make the clay ) that penetrate to the bottom of the container, and slowly adding water so that the water fills from the bottom of the container up. No mixing is required. Simply allow the clay to set and expand.

Apply caution when handling processed powdered clay. One should avoid breathing in the fine powder.

When you detoxify your body, you open the door to healing and rejuvenation; in other words, you’re turning back the hands of time on aging or degenerating. Ideally, we as humans should reach and live a life longevity of at least 120 years; however, most people will be happy just to reach age 65 (the federal retirement age), which is really sad and a shame.

Detoxifying our bodies helps us to eliminate toxic waste accumulations, mucus, parasites and worms (that steal what little nutrition we get or have in our bodies), excess fat, fluid buildup (cellulite), old and hardened fecal matter buildup, and many more unsightly and odorous things that play a pivotal role in sabotaging and comprising optimal health.

The results after detoxifying include more resilient skin and complexion, weight loss (10-50 pounds), less headaches, more energy, clearer sense of feeling and thinking; a more positive outlook on life, more willpower; less diseases and sicknesses throughout the year.

I hope you will take the time to learn more about the benefits of using healing clays for external and internal cleansing. Find more at Oshun Spirit Earth Friendly Goods.

The Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon

I came across the following post by Linda Living Joy Lorenzo on my facebook feed this morning and although I wanted to share it, the share button would not cooperate. And so, I am going to repost it here. The "Hundredth Monkey" phenomenon is the example I site when questioned HOW and WHY I can still have hope for an Earth and Humankind so out of balance... when so much appears so impossible. I hope that you enjoy the story and today, remember that it may be in fact be your own positive thought, word or deed that tips the scale and sends us all in the direction of peace, prosperity and Heaven on Earth. In love and peace, Susan

There is much talk in metaphysical and spiritual circles, about the concept of "reaching critical mass" which will produce a major shift in consciousness on our beloved planet, which in kind, will also effect the raising up of our entire Universe...

In speaking to a fairly large group of enlightened individuals a couple of weeks ago, I was surprised that many of them had not heard of the idea of reaching critical mass or the concept of Ken Keyes' classic, "The Hundredth Monkey", it was this scientific breakthrough that led up to this awareness...

I am sharing it here, so that those who have not heard of this phenomenon, will be likewise enlightened and encouraged...literally the future in our hands, minds and hearts...

In the book The 100th Monkey Ken Keyes, Jr. tells the story of a scientific research study on monkeys that supports the notion that quantum shifts can occur when a population reaches a “critical mass.”

This phenomenon is often referred to when one is in need of evidence to support the belief that an optimistic future is possible for humankind. The 100th Monkey empowers us to have faith that if enough people will just think the right loving and compassionate thoughts —

When we reach the 100th human—or whatever number is the tipping point—then suddenly, almost magically, our world will shift.

The Hundredth Monkey
by Ken Keyes, Jr.

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.

In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too.

This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists.

Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable.

Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

Then something startling took place.

In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes -- the exact number is not known.

Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes.

Let's further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.

THEN IT HAPPENED!

By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them.

The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

But notice.

A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea --

Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes.

Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people.

But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!
