The color of joy!

Lately, I've been drawn to oranges. Not only to the fruit, but the color: pumpkin, carnelian, marigold. I've been wearing it and eating it, aware of my attraction to orange and appreciating it's energy.

The truth is that I 've been on a joyride!

I've been on a happiness bender! I admit it, and I must have needed it... I have been working a lot, lately. And so, I will make no apologies for my mango-colored pedicure, coral lipstick and crystal vases filled with Chrysanthemums. I've made pumpkin curried soup, and squash pie, and cinnamon carrots. I may have purchased a few too many gourds to decorate this fall ... and yes, I've got an ornage cinnamon candle burning on my desk right now!

The ancients knew that colors can dramatically affect our health, inner harmony and our emotions. Western medicine is beginning to embrace the color and light therapies which alternative practitioners have employed through chakra balacing and crystal healing, and luxury spas offer in mood lighting and color baths.

I intuit color as a living energy, light, an electromagnetic energy produced by the sun in different wavelengths. As the light is absorbed and reflected we experience different colors. The length of a wave defines its color, and how it resonates in our own biodynamic systems. Like other vibrational therapies including aromatherapy, and music, color effects our bodies, minds, emotions and spirits.

A very basic guideline to using color therapies for wellness follows:

Red stimulates brain wave activity, increases heart rate, respirations and blood pressure, excites sexual glands. It energizes the first chakra (coccyx). It warms us and awakens us physically and energizes our blood. It is a good color to wear when we have colds and poor circulation. Too much red can over stimulate and make some illnesses worse. High blood pressure is an indicator of too much red energy in the body. It is a color for war, prosperity, fire, and rising sun. Spiritually it is the root color of fire and connects us to our physical self.

Orange is the color of joy and wisdom. It affects the second chakra (sacral). It gives an energy, stimulates appetite and it is a good color for illnesses of the colon and digestion. Spiritually it is the color of joy. It connects us to our emotional self.

Yellow is the solar plexus chakra. It energizes, relieves depression, improves memory, stimulates appetite and helps in digestive problems. Spiritually it is the color of wisdom and connects us to our mental self.

Green affects the heart chakra. It has a calming effect and balances the nervous system. Green color is soothing, relaxing mentally as well as physically, helps those suffering from depression, anxiety, nervousness. It is a good color for cardiac conditions, high blood pressure and ulcers. Since green stimulates growth, it should be avoided in cancers and other tumors. Spiritually it is the color of love and connects us to perfect love.

Blue is the color for the throat chakra. It is a good color in respiratory illness or throat infections. Blue is calming and cooling to our system and hence, a good color to counteract hypertension. Spiritually it is the color of health and connects us to holistic thought.

Indigo is the color for healing of the brow chakra. It is a good color for sinusitis, immunity problems, and all face problems. Too much of this color can cause depression. Spiritually it is the color of intuition and connects us to our unconscious self.

Violet is the color of the crown chakra. It is cleansing, strengthening, and awakening, suppresses appetite, provides a peaceful environment. It affects the skeletal system of the body. It is a good color for improving immunity, cancerous conditions, and arthritis. It also purifies the system and is an excellent color for headaches and migrains. Spiritually it is the color of faith and connects us to our spiritual self.

And so, with this understanding I will indulge my senses with all things orange 'til I am filled. I trust myself to know what I need, even if its just a new shade of lipstick, a bumpy gourd, or a glass of fresh squeezed juice. I am feeling playful and enthusiastic, and very creative...

I think I'll make a peach cobbler!

May you be blessed!

I love my new MBT sneakers!

I'm in pretty good shape for fifty. I am mindful of how and what I eat, and of my good fortune to have an abundance of clean, fresh mountain air in my lungs. I give gratitude to the creatures who give their lives so my own body might live on in health. I am loved, I love, I have meaningful work. I live a good life. And I walk.

I walk at least three miles every day as part of my spiritual practice. I've never been a good "sitter," and so I do most of my meditations "on the move." A toned tush and happy dogs are part of the bonus package that comes with my daily devotions.
I love to walk.

But I hate sneakers. I know that hate is a very strong word but I cannot think of another. I prefer going barefoot, even on hot pavement or rocky trails. But alas, I do live in the civilized world, and footwear is required.

And so, for the past twenty years or so, I've been on a quest for the perfect pair of sneakers. This may have even be an intregal part of my spiritual journey. I've learned patience. I've learned to be comfortable with my discomfort. I've learned how lables can be misleading and that following the crowd is usually less satisfying than blazing one own path. And in the process of protecting my piggies I discovered the wonderful comfort of Bamboo socks, as an unlikely eco-friendly use of that miracle material once reserved for placemats and pandas.

All in my quest for sneakers I could love...

Well, I've found them!

MBT stands for Masai Barefoot Technology. The company that makes MBT Shoes (also known as the anti-shoe) is Swiss Masai. The uniquely-designed, multi-layered, cured sole is designed to simulate walking in sand (similar to the natural walking environment of the Masai in Kenya) or the soft moss of our swampy origins. This creates a natural, uneven walking surface and forces the body to engage all the major and stabilizing muscle groups.

These are not cute shoes. In fact, I think they are quite homely. It might even have been a barrier to understanding their virtues a year or two ago... I had to wait for enlightenment until I was able to put aside judgements based on external appearance and misconceptions... there is always a learning curve... and learning to walk in MBT's is one in itself!

You actually get a video with your sneakers. It is recommended that you start out with just an hour a day. Why? Because your butt will be sore, and so will your abs, and so will legs muscles you never knew you had! My back was sore, my neck was strained.

I thought, "ugly and uncomfortable, and I paid $245 for these!" Yes, they are pricy. But what is flying worth to you?

I've owned my MBT Shoes for only two weeks. And, I'm already soaring! About seven or eight days in, the day came when walking seemed effortless. My stride shortened, became quicker, and I naturally began walking with my back straight, chin up, and my stomach pulled in. I felt like a new prototype. Balanced, flowing, more insightful, perfectly aligned in body, mind and spirit. I'd pay $345, $445, more, no problem.

I have read that walking one mile in MBT sneakers is the equivalent workout of walking two miles in ordinary walking shoes. That may be true because I do get a bit sweaty even at a modest pace.

Some of the claims made about MBT sneakers include:

  • They activate neglected muscles
  • They improve posture and gait
  • They tone and shape the body
  • They can help with back, hip, leg, and foot problems
  • They can help with joint, muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries
  • They reduce stress on knee and hip joints

This is all true. But what they do not claim is that these homely little creatures will surely propel you on your soul's journey. That they will lift you, lighten your load, and make your walking meditations a spirit's flight. I'm not getting paid to say this, but I want you to know...

I love my new sneakers!

May you be blessed!

Calling all Indigo Children! The Silkies have arrived on Bonanzle!

I'm an old one, and I have raised three. I have worked with hundreds of Indigos both in my wellness practice, and through the Juvenile Justice system, mental health and family service providers, and our local school system which all referred Indigos to my programs at the Holistic Youth Center which I founded and directed until 2006.

I believe that Indigo Children are perfectly wired for the higher Earth frequencies that are now in progress. They are pioneers in blazing the trails to the next phases of human evolution. Indigos are normalizing paranormal abilities, multi-dimensional awareness and telepathy. And although many children labeled "Indigo" are (mis)diagnosed with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or described as anti-social or uncooperative, all are incredibly empathetic and creative. They are just a little ahead of their time! And that can be very stressful.

What is an Indigo Child? According to the official Indigo Child Website, there are the ten attributes that best describe this new kind of child, the Indigo Child.

• They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
• They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
• Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
• They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
• They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
• They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
• They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
• They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
• They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
• They are not shy in letting you know what they need.

I've found that Indigos are magnetized to Tachyon-energized wellness products and are greatly comforted by the Tachyon field of influence. The Tachyon field of influence promotes balanced energy, resistance to the effects of stress, and deeper relaxation. Also, it supports enhanced mental focus, greater physical endurance, and protection against the harmful electromagnetic field radiation that Indigos are so sensitive to. Tachyon textiles on the body increase and stabilize the human aura, and protect and nurture your child as they improve awareness, calm and reduce anxiety and irritability. I've been using Tachyon blankets in my practice for years, they are my all time favorite wellness tool... until now.

Meet the Silkies! Silkies are wonderful Tachyon take-everywhere-favorite-companions to help provide a calming, balancing effect in any situation. They are ideal to bring along when making transitions, traveling, to diffuse stressful moments, and for hospital stays. Silkies are the ultimate "security blanket" because they can be "worn" as a scarf, a belt, or a head wrap.

So, what's a Silkie? We think they might be magical sea creatures from a faraway land, maybe related to seals... but ask your Indigo, they'll know for sure!

May you be blessed!

A new day and a new place. Making the Law of Attraction work for you!

Yesterday, I had three back to back 90-minute sessions with clients who wished to manifest "stuff." Their manifesting was not going well, and they wondering what they were doing wrong.

"I've been working on the Law of Attraction, and The Secret, and the answers to MY PROBLEMS. And its not working for me." Once, twice, three times.

So, I got to thinking there must be something going on, some great cosmic alignment or stargate opening or something that magnetized these students to me all in the same moment. And, I got to thinking I should fine-tune my response in case there is a watershed. So thanx guys! Now I'm ready thanx to you!

OK, you are a magnet. You attract into your life whatever you think about. Your dominant thoughts will find a way to manifest. It cannot be otherwise. I've said all that before and so has everyone else. Once, twice, three times.

And yes, many of you are waking up to a blossoming "something" and are having a hard time getting back to sleep. That's good! It's great! And you want to get moving! I call it urgent ascsension symptoms, and you are seeking to clear the past to make room for the future. You are trying to get to the place where is no more burden to bear, karma to clear, people to forgive, or money to tithe to prove your readiness or worthiness. You've worked with your inner child, your past lives, your wounded healer, and your fall from grace and replayed angers and emotions and fears ad nauseum. And this is where your train has derailed...

Stop it! Do it once, let out a big breath of release and move on! Because as you do this over and over again, you diffuse your energy into the past and relive scenarios of dis-empowerment.

Manifestation and miracle-doing requires a new day and a new place. First, you must release the idea of the past, which is simply an illusion in the present. It has no substance unless you energize it. Release the imprints of your past and how it affected you, and claim the power that is yours, now.

Stop spending your time seeking to heal illusions. Do it once and know that it is done.

It is so simple. Really.

The same may be said of the future. Many of you have deep anxieties about what will happen, and so you feel comforted by predictions and time-lines that are offered to tell you what will happen and when. These too are illusions, for the divine plan only unfolds in the Now, in the present, as the point of power. The moment you start giving away power and energy to the future you lose the point of power in the Now moment. The present is still an illusion.

Again, it is so simple. Really.

The bottom line is that all that is "real" is Creative Energy, Love and this moment of Power. Everything else is an illusion that you are energizing, and I know that you think for some very good reason... in your own reality.

Reality is the keyword here. Yours is not mine. Reality is subjective. I find lace-up shoes constrictive, you find them supportive. What are they really?

In subjective reality there’s only one consciousness, and it’s yours. Consequently, there’s only one source of intentions in your universe — YOU. While you may observe lots of people, places and things in your reality, they all exist inside your consciousness.

Let me explain: This is how your dreams work, but you maybe you haven’t yet realized your waking reality is just another type of dream. It only seems solid because you believe it is and intend it to be.

Since none of the other characters you encounter are conscious in a way that’s separate from you, the only intentions are yours. You’re the only thinker in your universe. You’re the single consciousness in which this entire reality takes place. You have all the responsibility.

So, OK imagine you’re having a dream. In that dream what exactly are you? Are you the physical dream character you identify with? No, of course not, that’s just your dream avatar. You are the dreamer. The entire dream occurs within your consciousness. All dream characters are projections of your dream thoughts, including your avatar.

Physical reality works the same way. This is a denser universe than what you experience in your sleeping dreams, so changes occur a bit more gradually here. But this reality still conforms to your thoughts just like a sleeping dream. You are the dreamer in which all of this is taking place.

The idea that other people have intentions that block you is an illusion because other people are just projections. Of course, if you strongly believe other people have intentions, then that’s the dream you’ll create for yourself. But ultimately it’s still an illusion.

Since you’re the only intender, this is "blaming others, blaming the past, blaming the economy" is entirely an internal conflict — within you. You’re intending competition and chaos. Yes, you can give up control of your reality by thinking (intending) randomness and uncertainty, but you can never give up responsibility. Sorry.

Every thought is an intention, so however you think about the other beings in your reality is what you’ll eventually manifest for them. Keep in mind that beliefs are hierarchical, so if you have a high order belief that reality is random and unpredictable and out of your control, then that intention will trump other intentions of which you’re less certain. It’s your entire collection of thoughts that dictates how your reality manifests. Whatever you think about expands, and not just in the narrow space of your avatar but in all of physical reality. If your thoughts are conflicted, your reality is conflicted.

This is why assuming responsibility for your thoughts is so important. If you want to see peace in the world, then intend peace for EVERYTHING in your reality. If you want to see abundance in the world, then intend it for EVERYONE. If you want to enjoy loving relationships, then intend loving relationships for ALL. If you intend these only for your own avatar but not for others, then you’re intending conflict, division, and separation; consequently, that’s what you’ll experience.

This entire reality is your creation. So, feel good about that. Feel grateful for the diversity of your world. And then begin creating the reality you truly want by making decisions and holding intentions. Think about what you desire, and withdraw your thoughts from what you don’t want. The most natural, easiest way to do this is to pay attention to your emotions. Thinking about your desires feels good, and thinking about what you don’t want makes you feel bad. When you notice yourself feeling bad, you’ve caught yourself thinking about something you don’t want. Turn your focus back towards what you do want, and your emotional state will improve rapidly. As you do this repeatedly, you’ll begin to see your physical reality shift too, first in subtle ways and then in bigger leaps.

I, too, am just a manifestation of your consciousness. I play the role you expect me to play. If you expect me to be a helpful guide, I will be. If you expect me to be profound and insightful, I will be. If you expect me to be a new-age glitter fairy, or a deluded over-educated intellectual, I will be. But of course there’s no distinct me that is separate from you. I’m just one of your many creations. I am what you intend me to be.

I will close by saying, "Live in the Now, in the present moment." Let your attention be fully in the creative power of this moment. When you gather your creative power into the present and focus on the now, you have tremendous creative potential and you feel the deep peace and contentment of the Source energy.

"Past" and "future" are illusionary man-made concepts designed to facilitate life in the third dimensional linear reality, that is all. In the higher dimensions they are purely illusionary and have no meaning. Higher dimensional beings create continuously by dipping into the well of the Cosmos: Love and Intention. And, the point of creative energy or focus is always Now, the place of Intention or Attention.

You can make it work for you. Once, twice, three times, and more!

May you be blessed!

I turned fifty and had a facelift

On September 11, at 7:31 pm I celebrated my fiftieth birthday. It's true! So I had a facelift yesterday.

But, before I go into detail I do want to take a moment to express my most sincere gratitude for the outpouring of birthday gifts and greetings and messages I received via email, ecard, twitter and on facebook from my customer-friends, colleagues and on-line community members. My online e-commerce endeavor has gifted me with a loving, lovely extended family. I am blessed to have found abundance and true wealth through the unchartered, unexpected twists and turns my professional practice has taken over the past several years. So a word of wisdom here: if Spirit ever urges you to quit your job and become an ebay psychic, do it. And be ready for the ride of your life. Don't resist the seemingly absurd, just go with the flow...

At fifty, I see that has become a way of life for me now. I am comfortable accepting change without getting too anxious, angry or frustrated. I'll take what life gives me with gratitude, trusting, rather than try to mold circumstance to be as I think it should be. But I am a Virgo, a scientist, a thinker and a perfectionist. How did this happen? Maybe its an Oshun thing... the water, the movement...

In the temple I call a kayak, I meditated.

Once upon a time I realized that I can’t control everything
. That was the beginning. I realized that things will happen, not might happen, but will. There are things that I cannot control that will affect every aspect of my life, and I must must must accept that, or I go crazy. No, thanx.

And, somewhere along the journey I became aware
. I learned that you can’t change things in your head if you’re not aware of them. You have to become an observer of your thoughts, a self-examiner. I have learned to take a deep breath to calm down and get perspective. I have learned to take a step back. I have a technique: You know how you’re watching a movie and the camera zooms away and you can see much more of the world on the screen than you could before? How it goes from closeup to a larger, panoramic view of things? That’s what happens in my mind’s eye. I start to zoom away, until I’m pretty far away from things. Then whatever happened doesn’t seem so important. A week from now, a year from now, will this matter? Probably no one will care, not even me. So why get upset about it? Just let it go, goodbye.

I learned to laugh.
I try to see "things" as comical, or at least incedibly interesting, rather than frustrating. It requires a certain amount of detachment — you can laugh at the situation if you’re above it, but not within it. That detachment is a good thing, beacuse life isn't always about me, sometimes "things happen" so I will be in a particular place at a particular time to be there for someone else. When I am delayed, I always wonder who is waiting for me.

I realized that I can’t control others
. This was one of my biggest challenges as a mother and healer. I finally realized that even the people I love and I am tyring to help are acting according to their personality, according to what they feel is right, and that they are not going to do what I suggest all of the time. I have to accept that. Accept that I can’t control them, accept them for who they are, accept the things they do, and send a blessing rather than a curse when they need it most.

I accepted change and imperfection
. I accepted the fact that the world is constantly changing, and I am a part of that change. Also, instead of wanting things to be “perfect” (and what is perfect anyway?), I accepted that they will never be perfect, and learned to accept this moment instead.

And so, I've had a facelift. It's a parodox, isn't it.

I've learned to enjoy life as a flow of change, chaos and beauty
. What is perfection? It’s actually a very interesting question. Does perfect mean the ideal life and world that we have in our heads? Do we have an ideal that we will try to make the world conform to? Because that will likely never happen. Instead, I will try to see the world as perfect the way it is. It’s messy, chaotic, painful, sad, dirty … and completely perfect. The world is beautiful, just as it is. And so am I, with my turkey neck and lip lines, crows feet and sunspots.

My facelift? No, not a surgical procedure on my body, but certainly a change in my "image." My facelift is my commitment to continue to go with the flow for the next fifty years. You'll see it on my web pages at my Bonanzle and ecrater stores and on my website. There's a river running through them now, and the lotus avatar has been replaced with the face of Mother Oshun.

Life is not something static, but a flow of change, never staying the same, always interesting, sometimes funny, always beautiful. There is beauty in everything around us, if we look at it as perfect.

May you be blessed!

A space in time

I raced out the door, ate lunch in the car at 70 mph, and despite the fact that I really needed to pee, I kept on going. I had to hurry! I had commitments, appointments, and promises to keep. I had the need for speed.

And, that is very unlike me. Many years ago I stopped worshiping at the feet of the fast life...

A busy, driven, successful young business woman/mother/trailblazer of the early 80's, I had been in the process of running... from my conditioned-self, and from my true calling. And one day I realized I was running in circles. So, I began to cultivate the practice of mindfullness, savoring my experiences, and being present. Once I slowed down I began seeing more clearly, listening more carefully, and thinking more deeply. And soon there was nothing to run from, or to.

And yesterday, I was given the opportunity to recall that miraculous dispensation of grace once more and offer up a prayer of gratitude.

So what happened?

I was in an elevator. And, I resisted the impulse to hit the "door close" button. I had my finger pointed, ready to strike, when I noticed it was the most worn button on the elevator panel. I laughed!

In that worn button, I was given a sure sign of my culture's addiction to speed, and how easy it is to relapse, even after years of "clean living."

I remembered the seduction of the running tos and froms... the implied importance and virtual value of thinking that I should. I also remembered that it's ok to take time to pee.

Thomas Keating, a teacher of centering prayer, has said, "It only takes a moment for Spirit to enrich you."

What if that is the moment? You know, the space in time when you are ready to move but the elevator door stays open. What if that is the crack that lets in the light! What if we just need to resist the need to push the "door close" button?

I imagined this simple act of relaxation could add immeasurably to the peace of the world...

What if you just have to be present, peaceful, and open to this wonderful possibility! Spirit reaches out in the strangest of places. You don’t want to be moving so fast that you miss it!

May you be blessed!

Tachyon Jewelry 30% off at Oshun Spirit at Bonanzle

Why do I recommend wearing Tachyon pendants and beads?

Beads rest upon the Thymus region of the body. The thymus gland is the "Command Central" for our immune systems. This center knows what should be absorbed by the body and what should be eliminated.
It tries to keep us in balance.

Our modern lifestyles expose us to the constant bombardment of incoherent frequencies from computers, cell phones, artificial lighting, negative people and stressful environments, and severely compromises Thymus function. As a result, our immune systems are weakened significantly. We can recognize our imbalances as fatigue, headaches, poor digestion, scattered emotions, frustration, anger, and spiritual longing.

Wearing Tachyon over the thymus strengthens and protects our immune systems. Because the heart is the power center of the physical body, and the etheric heart is the opening to the Zero-point, our emotional center comes into balance with our gentle spiritual nature as well.

When Tachyon is applied to this area the whole set of energy systems - in our bodies, minds and spirits – that comprise who we are become charged to their highest level with Life Force Energy. Our total sense of wellbeing is strengthened and protected. We feel better because our subtle bodies are in a state of harmony.
